slamat sore arjawinangun……..

suatu sore di arjawinangun

adalah sepanjang jalan yang teduh menuju rumah mu

melewati hamparan sawah menguning

dan pasar tempat emak mu membeli kebaya untuk ku

mungkin sungai itu mengering

saat kita menyebrangi jembatan kayu nya

dan seorang gila melempari kita dengan batu

mengejar mu dan menarik tangan mu jauh dari ku

mungkin kita menghiraukan pertanda

saat kau menepis lengan nya

dan menjual punggung mu

menghadang rajaman umpatan nya

hanya di suatu sore menjelang kenduri kita

maka suatu sore di arjawinangun itu

telah memudar bersama sepuluh tahun yang lalu

dan dari kereta purwojaya yang tengah melaju

ku terperangah melewati mu

terbata mengucapkan

selamat sore arjawinangun…

selamat tinggal…

Maya
Angelou (born Marguerite Johnson, April 4, 1928) is an American poet,
memoirist, actress and an important figure in the American Civil Rights
Movement. In 2001 she was named one of the 30 most powerful women in
America by Ladies Home Journal.

Maya Angelou is known for the
autobiographical writings I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings (1969) and
All God’s Children Need Traveling Shoes (1986). Her volume of poetry,
Just Give Me a Cool Drink of Water ‘Fore I Die (1971) was nominated for
the Pulitzer Prize, and in 1993, Angelou read her poem "On the Pulse of
Morning" during Bill Clinton’s Presidential inauguration.

In
April last year, Maya Angelou was interviewed by Oprah on her 74th
birthday. Oprah asked her what she thought of growing older. And, there
on television, she said it was "exciting."

Regarding body
changes, she said there were many, occurring every day…like her
breasts. They seem to be in a race to see which will reach her waist
first.

The audience laughed so hard they cried. She is such a simple and honest woman, with so much wisdom in her words!
